Buckinghamshire Youth Wind Ensemble
We are delighted to announce the launch of the 2017-18 season of the Buckinghamshire Youth Wind Ensemble under the Musical Directorship of Ed Hodgson. This ensemble takes pride in performing high quality repertoire which is designed to challenge each player and provide them a unique chamber ensemble experience. The 2016-17 season saw the ensemble enjoy a fantastic summer residential during which they performed alongside BBC Young Musician of the Year Finalist, Jess Gillam. The new season includes concerts in Buckinghamshire and Central London and another residential course with invited guests and will explore both established and exciting new repertoire.
This year, we are pleased to announce that the Internationally-renowned Euphonium soloist, Mr David Childs, will be joining us for the Summer Residential in late August. As a soloist, David tours extensively across the globe and has appeared with a range of professional orchestras as well as regularly recording as a solo artist for radio, television and commercial disc, including releases on the Doyen, Chandos, EMI and Deutsche Gramophone labels. David is an Associate of the Royal College of Music London; a Professor at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama; an Ambassador and Artist for Buffet Crampon (Besson); and Director of Prima Vista Musikk publishing house. He is also a former principal euphonium of the Brighouse and Rastrick, and Cory bands, a founder member of the highly successful brass quartet Eminence Brass, and Principal Conductor of Wales’ premiere wind orchestra, Cardiff Symphonic Winds. More information about David Childs can be found at www.davechilds.com
